Jay DeMerit has finally been called up to play for his national team.  He is in the 24-man squad to face Ecuador on Sunday 25 March and the second match on the 28th.  Congratulations Jay!

It has recently come to my attention that Jay has done a load of campaigning for Cancer Research UK (thanks to Sean O'Conor) and it would be great if some of you guys could help out.  The links on the Cancer Research page, and in case for some reason you can't get onto that its http://www.justgiving.com/JayDeMerit.

Jay DeMerit signed for Watford from non-league Northwood in summer 2004.  He played some games that season but was behind Sean Dyche and Neil Cox in the pecking order.  The season 2005/06 he started as sub behind Clarke Carlisle and Malky Mackay but around Christmas he shunted Carlisle out and was an important part of Watford's promotion-winning season, which he capped by scoring the first goal in the 3-0 play-off final win against Leeds.
